Meru Networks Appoints Konsorcjum FEN for Polish Distribution

With Deployments Already Underway, the Partnership Will Support the Needs of Public Sector Growth

SUNNYVALE, Calif, February 4, 2008 -  Meru Networks, the leader in mobility infrastructure for data, wireless voice (VoIP) and video today announced that it has appointed Konsorcjum FEN, (FEN) a Polish-Taiwanese importer and distributor of networking products and solutions. The partnership represents another entry by Meru into the fertile Eastern Europe marketplace.

FEN, one of the Poland's most successful distributors in the networking market, will support the country's fast-changing public sector with broadband Internet access.

Dave Kelly , VP EMEA at Meru explained: "Poland's appetite for advanced networking solutions is growing rapidly, which this partnership aims to support and take full advantage of. The combination of our unique wireless infrastructure technology and FEN's highly skilled workforce we feel this is an excellent and competitive pairing that can offer more choice to this important market."

FEN has already deployed Meru equipment for a VoIP application in a Poland based call centre. Through its Assured Quality of Service (QoS) ) for converged voice and data networks, Meru is uniquely qualified for voice over wireless. Attributes such as its Air Traffic Control™ technology provide downstream and upstream QoS to prevent voice degradation in converged voice and data networks.

Other features such as its Call Admission Control work to prevent excessive calls so that voice quality is not degraded due to overload. Voice and other density heavy applications are supported by Meru's VirtualCell technology, which allows stacking/layering multiple channels in an area and then utilising VSM to perform Application-Aware Load Balancing to dynamically move phones between VirtualCells to maximize the call density.

Daniel Zukowski, Networking BU Manager at FEN commented: "We are very pleased to be working with Meru Networks because of the superior innovation that we have seen in its product portfolio. Because of the long term cost savings applications like voice, which Meru has a very mature solution for, are growth areas that are being heavily funded by government initiatives. Beyond this its VirtualCell approach simplifies deployments and growth. When you are experiencing the type of upswing that we are in Poland, this is incredibly important."

Meru's VirtualCell architecture is defined by Access Points that coordinate with one another to the extent that they don't interfere and can co-exist. Every Access Point uses the same a/b/g/n WiFi channels. The VirtualCell approach simplifies channel mapping making it easier more cost effective to deploy and grow especially for users wanting to migrate to the next generation wireless standard, draft 802.11n.
