Meru Expands Management Team to Accelerate Market Expansion and Meet Growing Customer Demand Voice-over-IP Mobility Leader Appoints Senior Industry Executives to Lead Sales, Corporate Marketing, and Business Development; Expands Sales Team to Rapidly Gain Market Share Sunnyvale, CA– March 14, 2005 Meru Networks today announced the addition of three industry veterans to its executive management team with the appointments of Fred Corsentino as Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Ben Gibson as Vice President of Corporate Marketing, and Jim Ciociolo as Vice President of Business Development. With the launch of its Voice-Over-IP (VoIP) Mobility initiative (featuring its innovative, standards-based Cellular Wireless LAN (WLAN) Architecture), and recent customer and partnering successes, Meru is now scaling its sales, marketing and business development capabilities to take full advantage of its market opportunities. In addition to its executive management additions, Meru is also significantly increasing its sales force by adding wireless LAN and VoIP industry veterans to execute a successful, broadened go-to-market strategy. “Meru has embarked on a new and exciting phase in the evolution of the company,” said Meru Networks CEO Ihab Abu-Hakima. “With our latest additions to the executive team, expansion of our product portfolio, new strategic partnerships just announced, new customer wins, and the sharpening of our focus and messaging, Meru is seizing its technical advantages to lead the fast-emerging VoIP mobility market," Fred Corsentino comes to Meru Networks with proven experience in successfully forming and managing sales organizations in both the Enterprise and Service Provider markets. He was Executive Vice President Worldwide Sales at Western Multiplex, a company that developed and sold carrier-grade broadband wireless infrastructure systems to the Enterprise and Service Provider markets. Corsentino was also Vice President of Sales for OpenPort Technology, North American Sales Director for the Enterprise Access group at 3Com/US Robotics and Group Sales Manager focused on Fortune 500 and government business at Digital Equipment Corp. A seasoned marketing professional, Ben Gibson brings 15 years of networking industry experience to Meru Networks. Gibson joins Meru from Proxim Corporation where he was Vice President of Marketing, responsible for all facets of outbound marketing, including marketing communications, demand generation, press/analyst relations, investor relations, channel and web marketing. Prior to Proxim, Gibson held Product Marketing Management positions at Cisco for the Catalyst 2900/3500 Switching families, and at 3Com for their LAN switching products. Ben was also responsible for Corporate Marketing at Procket Networks and Atrica, Inc. Jim Ciociolo joins Meru from Allied Telesyn, where he was Vice President of Sales and Operations. Prior to that, Jim was Vice President of Business development and service provider sales at Colubris Networks. While at Colubris, Ciociolo drove partnering for the company and was responsible for establishing strategic relationships with Alcatel and Juniper Networks. Ciociolo has also held senior management positions at Navisite, NetCentric, and Bay Networks.
