MATISSE NETWORKS TO PARTICIPATE IN
NXTCOMM08 PANEL DISCUSSION ON THE EVOLUTION OF PACKET TRANSPORT
NETWORKS
Matisse Partners with Ixia to Demonstrate Live EtherBurst? 60
Gbps Triple Play Metro Network
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., JUNE 11, 2008—Matisse Networks,
pioneer in the field of optical burst switching (OBS), invites
visitors of the NXTcomm08 tradeshow in Las Vegas to attend an
IEC Communications Forum event entitled, “The Next Step in the
Packet Transport Evolution: The Virtualization of the Optical
Layer Towards Unified Packet Network Architectures,” on Tuesday,
June 17, 2008 at 1 p.m.
Also at NXTcomm, Matisse (booth #SU4511) will be conducting a
live demonstration of its EtherBurst Packet WDM system using the
Ixia IxNetwork™ testing suite to simulate a combined 60Gbps of
Triple Play (voice, video and data) traffic and high-bandwidth
low-latency business Ethernet services.
The IEC Communications Forum event will be moderated by Michael
Howard, Principal Analyst and Co-founder of Infonetics Research
and will include panelists Timon Sloane, VP of Marketing for
Matisse Networks and Tony Thakur, VP, Network Technology and
Architecture at Time Warner Telecom.
Panelists will present and discuss the different alternatives
packet transport vendors have to make optical bandwidth
virtualization a reality. Optical burst switching and end-to-end
carrier Ethernet transport will be discussed in the context of
enabling bandwidth-efficient packet transport networks, capable
of delivering a unified service architecture through the
virtualization of network resources.

About Matisse Networks
Matisse Networks is named after Henri Matisse, the famous
painter known as the “Master of Color.” Like the painter,
Matisse Networks is mastering the colors of light to pioneer the
field of optical burst technology. Matisse Networks’ EtherBurst
Packet WDM System is purpose-built for carrier and enterprise
metro Ethernet optical transport networks, saving 50% of capital
and operational expenses compared with legacy optical circuit
systems. EtherBurst maximizes utilization of optical bandwidth
and increases packet service flexibility at the lowest total
cost of ownership.
