MATISSE NETWORKS COMPLETES CARRIER ETHERNET
CERTIFICATION
Validation to Speed Adoption of EtherBurst Packet WDM
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., February 20, 2008—Matisse
Networks today announced that its EtherBurst Packet WDM system
has been awarded Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) 9 certification.
MEF 9 defines the requirements and corresponding test procedures
to which a system must comply to deliver Ethernet services. This
is an innovative and service-oriented test specification which
verifies compliance with key carrier Ethernet criteria:
scalability, reliability, ability to support multiple
applications, robust service level agreements and global
interoperability.
“EtherBurst provides standard Ethernet interfaces for
interconnecting third-party switches and routers,” said Timon
Sloane, VP of marketing at Matisse Networks. “Achieving MEF
certification underscores Matisse’s ongoing commitment to
Ethernet interoperability.”
“This certification assures the Matisse EtherBurst Packet WDM
system is compliant with Ethernet Private Line (EPL), Ethernet
Virtual Private Line (EVPL) and Ethernet-Local Area Network
(E-LAN) services,” said Bob Mandeville, president of the MEF’s
authorized testing lab Iometrix. “This certification assures
customers that EtherBurst is a standards compliant layer-2
switching solution fully interoperable with virtually all
Ethernet switches and routers.”
About Matisse Networks
Matisse Networks is named after Henri Matisse, the famous
painter known as the “Master of Color”. Like the painter,
Matisse Networks is mastering the colors of light to pioneer the
field of optical burst technology. Matisse Networks’ EtherBurst
optical switch is the first packet optical transport system with
optical burst technology. EtherBurst is purpose-built for
carrier and enterprise metro Ethernet optical transport
networks, saving 50% of capital and operational expenses
compared with legacy optical circuit systems. EtherBurst
maximizes utilization of optical bandwidth and increases packet
service flexibility at the lowest total cost of ownership.
