Marist College Announces Launch of Innovative
E-Learning Initiatives
IVT’s MediaPlatform ™ to Power the Next Generation of Online
Educational Programming
Poughkeepsie, NY – August 23, 2006 – Marist College, a
leading college of the arts and sciences noted for its
leadership in the use of technology to enhance the teaching and
learning process, today announced a new pilot program to enhance
the school’s e-learning
offerings. Through its close partnership with IBM, Marist has
chosen Interactive Video Technologies’ (IVT) MediaPlatform™ to
power this effort.
“Through Marist’s close partnership with IBM, and after an
extensive audit of the leading webcasting providers, it was
clear that IVT’s MediaPlatform was the only offering that had
the flexibility, reliability and personalization capabilities
that we need to design, implement and maintain our online
learning environment,” said Josh Baron, Director of Academic
Technology
and eLearning, Marist College. “At Marist we pride ourselves on
our innovative approach to enriched learning through the use of
new technology. IVT’s MediaPlatform offers our faculty, staff
and students a unique e-learning experience which provides the
opportunity to interact
with the content and, in some cases, even a real person.”
Marist College has had a long standing partnership with IBM
which has enabled the institution to be a trendsetter in the
e-learning space. IBM worked closely with Marist to assess,
develop and deploy IVT’s MediaPlatform. Marist currently
utilizes MediaPlatform to create online undergraduate and
graduate courses, while also supplementing many of the school’s
in-class courses. Additionally, Marist is using MediaPlatform
for administrative applications such as faculty training and HR
education.
IVT’s MediaPlatform is a complete webcasting publishing platform
that enables organizations to broadly produce, manage,
distribute and monitor live and on-demand webcasts.
MediaPlatform includes components that enable easy production
and powerful distribution of webcasts featuring streaming video,
PowerPoint slides, Flash animation, audio, and screen captures.
“At IVT we take pride in our ability to meet the ever-changing
communications needs of leading webcasting innovators, such as
the team at Marist,” said Greg Pulier, founder and CTO, IVT. “We
understand that reliability through every step of the webcasting
process, partnered with outstanding client service, is
imperative to making online learning a real
success.”
