HYDROPOINT’S WEATHERTRAK IRRIGATION SOLUTION GETS SMARTER

Petaluma, Calif., October 13, 2004 – HydroPoint Data Systems, Inc., the leading provider of smart irrigation management solutions, today announced the introduction of the WeatherTRAK ET plus controller. With the launch of WeatherTRAK ET plus, HydroPoint expands its proven WeatherTRAK technology to provide landscape professionals with the green industry’s most precise and flexible irrigation management solution. ET plus is ideal for managing all residential and commercial landscapes, regardless of their complexity, because the solution automates irrigation according to landscape-specific needs and changing local weather.

WeatherTRAK ET plus features fully integrated WeatherTRAK Scheduling Engine software that takes the guesswork out of irrigation programming. The Scheduling Engine automatically generates an accurate irrigation program for each station of a landscape based on user-entered landscape parameters such as plant, soil, slope and sprinkler type. Daily weather-based evapotranspiration (ET) values then track soil moisture levels for each station to determine when and how much irrigation is required. With ET plus, plants receive precisely the water they need, when they need it, for optimal health.

WeatherTRAK ET plus also includes the WeatherTRAK ET Everywhere™ service, which delivers daily local weather-based ET updates via a two-way wireless communication network. HydroPoint’s patented ET Everywhere service collects weather data from more than 14,000 weather stations, including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) network. Proven scientific modeling validates local weather to one square kilometer for the entire country before updates are transmitted to ET plus controllers. No sensors or other special equipment are required.

“WeatherTRAK ET plus is a quality, water-conserving irrigation system that reliably protects landscapes and saves water. I can confidently recommend WeatherTRAK to my clients because it meets the needs of water agencies, consumers and green industry professionals,” said Joe Kissinger, partner, Irrigation and Landscape Services of Fullerton, Calif.

The WeatherTRAK product line has consistently yielded water savings of up to 59% and demonstrably improved plant health in independent, multi-year studies. WeatherTRAK ET plus delivers these benefits and greater programming ease with both automated and customizable features including watering windows as well as automated cycle, soak and run times. The solution supports user-defined water windows with watering carry-over as well as user-programmed modes for new landscapes and custom schedules, either with or without ET. To meet municipal watering restrictions and customer requirements, ET plus provides comprehensive water day options.

“HydroPoint is firmly committed to providing irrigation management solutions that protect landscape health and deliver measurable water and cost savings,” said Chris Spain, President

and CEO of HydroPoint. “With the launch of WeatherTRAK ET plus, HydroPoint is setting a new standard for smart irrigation management.”

The WeatherTRAK ET plus controller is currently available in nine and 12 station models. Eighteen and 24 station models will be released in early 2005. For purchase information, please call 800.362.8774 or visit www.hydropoint.com.
