Matisse Networks

Matisse Networks is a privately held networking infrastructure company headquartered in Mountain View, California. Named after painter Henri Matisse, Matisse Networks is mastering the colors of light to bring the benefits of packet technology to optical networks with MeshWave – the world's first DWDM Packet Switch. Typical metro networks are constructed using one of three optical technologies: Layer 2/3 Packet Switching over Dark Fiber; Packet over SONET; or Packet over DWDM, all of which are circuit-based technologies requiring dedication of reserved bandwidth for every specific site-to-site connection – a costly and inefficient use of bandwidth. MeshWave technology delivers a connectionless packet architecture where wavelengths are dynamically switched to different destinations that yields simplicity, efficiency and reliability.

Monitor Ventures was a seed investor in Matisse Networks and has invested in the A round. Other investors include: Menlo Ventures, Walden International and Woodside Fund.
