CODA Genomics

Coda Genomics Inc. (CODA) is a synthetic biology and protein expression company founded in 2004 by scientists Dr. Richard Lathrop and Dr. G. Wesley Hatfield from the University of California, Irvine, and headed by industry veteran CEO Dr. Robert Molinari. CODA designs genes by computationally optimizing the selection of DNA sequences so that the resulting gene expresses well in a target organism suited for volume production of the associated protein. CODA offers gene kits and assembled genes that are guaranteed to express specific proteins, and collaborates on protein drug optimization projects. The company’s target customers include academic research labs, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and industrial protein manufacturers.

Monitor Ventures participated in a Series-B investment in CODA in January 2006 with Life Science Angels and CODA’s Series-A investors. Neal Bhadkamkar represents Monitor Ventures on the board.
