The Monitor Group is a family of global professional service providers with expertise in management consulting, merchant banking and investment services. Monitor has distinguished itself as a leader in applying state-of-the-art analysis to enhance its clients' strategic decision making and has earned a position–along with Bain and Company, Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company–as one of the world's premier strategy consulting firms.

Monitor's roots can be traced to the Harvard Business School, where a number of its founders studied and taught in the 1970s and 1980s. Although primarily focused on strategy consulting, Monitor has developed leading-edge skills in marketing strategy, operations analysis, systems dynamics and corporate finance.

During the past five years, Monitor has worked on core business issues in over 150 distinct industries, with over 900 professionals located in 23 countries worldwide. Revenue growth has been the result of a rapid, carefully managed expansion of professional staff, geographic presence, client base and range of industry expertise.

In the early 1990s, Monitor began its merchant banking activities, raising and successfully investing its own principal equity fund and developing extensive relationships with a number of sophisticated investors. Monitor's success caused Monitor to expand those activities dramatically in recent years to encompass not only principal investing, but also private equity and investment advisory services. Today Monitor, through affiliated funds, has over $1.5 billion of private equity under management.
